Day 20 | 30 Day Self-Care Challenge
Check your credit report and credit score
Knowledge is power. This statement rings true when it comes to financial self-care — the more you know about your current financial picture, the more you’re able to do to improve or ensure your financial well-being. One critical component of this is to know and understand what’s on your credit report and what’s impacting your credit score.
You can obtain a free copy of your credit report every 12 months from each credit reporting company via annualcreditreport.com. While this does not include a copy of your credit score, many of the credit reporting companies will provide you with access to your credit score at a reduced rate when accessing your credit report. Also, many banks and financial institutions now allow their customers to access their credit score for free via the customer’s online banking or lending account.
Once armed with your credit report and score, consider ways you might improve your credit score.
