Day 16 | 30 Day Self-Care Challenge

Unplug from email and social media

Social media can be a blessing and a curse. While it’s a great tool for connecting with others, it can also create social isolation, social comparison, and can be addictive (we’ve all scrolled a social platform a little (or a lot) longer than we initially planned to). Further, excessive social media use has been linked to anxiety and depression in teens and adults.

Today, take a “screen break” and unplug from email and social media. If this feels good to you, consider ways you might implement more social media breaks going forward. Some ideas include checking emails at designated intervals during a day, giving yourself a time limit for social media time, cleansing your “friends” list on social media to hide posts from or remove individuals that post items that bring down your mood.
