Day 8 | 30 Day Self-Care Challenge


Volunteer with a local organization or donate an item to a local charity

It feels good to give back, and studies show that volunteering and giving back is good for the mind and body.  Spend time today volunteering with a local organization, or find items to donate to a local cause.  A few ideas include:

  • Volunteer to serve meals at your local soup kitchen
  • Visit with residents of a nursing or adult-living facility
  • Volunteer at a local animal shelter
  • Volunteer with an organization that provides support services to impoverished children
  • Donate clothing or other household items to your local Salvation Army, Goodwill or similar organization
  • Donate items to a local homeless, domestic violence, or other safe haven shelter

If you can't volunteer today, make outreach to a center to find out their current needs and schedule time to volunteer or donate at a later date.  Giving back to our communities is a form of social and relational self-care. When we support others we ultimately receive the greatest reward.
